Iroquois snow snake with inlaid pewter tip; 80". Used by George Buck; ex Black Bear Trading Post Museum, Esopus, NY. The snow snake was by the Iroquois for winter games across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Southern Canada. The game could only be played when there was a clear, slick place without snow. The object was to throw/hurl the snow stick on the ice. The winner was the snake that traveled the farthest distance. Different shapes, lengths and the amount of lead and pewter defined the snow snake. Records were over 1 mile.
