Crow made, circa 1870-80. Traded to the Sioux; ex. Bessy Goodroad family; ex. Lakota Museum. The teepee is made of a light cotton. Would be for sun protection not rain. There are four 3” beaded rosettes, sinew sewn on brain tanned deer skin. There are 80 parfleche tabs decorating the opening and top vents that are quilled and have tin cone drops with either yarn or feathers. Early reservation when a warrior did not wish to spend the night under a “solid roof.” All original as put away. Hangs 8 feet when erected approximately 7 feet diameter. Rare piece of Native American history – museum quality.
