Rarely seen US M881 Indian Scout plumed helmet. Felt spiked cavalry helmet; packet with eagle with banner in his beak that reads "E pluribus Unum." Crossed swords and patriotic shield with arrows in left talon and olive twig in right talon. Two cavalry buttons on each side of a black leather band encompassing base of hat; plus leather chin strap. Yellow intertwined cords encompassing helmet. Completed with orange horse hair plume. Inside of helmet with leather sweat band, Horstmann Bros. & Co., Philadelphia.
