Prehistoric Coiled Snake Vessel
Prehistoric coiled serpent vessel, Tairona, Columbia. Circa 1000 - 1600 AD. 3" tall ceramic vessel I the form of a coiled snake and poised in a position to strike. Fair condition with close to 50% of its original black burnished surface eroded and two small holes in its side just below the rim, the exposed and somewhat punky red clay, when handled can produce small specks of loose paint and sandy grit. In spite of its condition, this fascinating miniature bowl, attributed to the Tairona of Columbia and dated, may have had special meaning. Collected mid-20th Century. Ex.
