Pair of Nuu-chah-nulth Model Totems
The wolves beneath the thunderbirds are holding what appears to be lightning snakes and have eagles nestled between their legs. Each pole is painted in several bright colors that have mellowed with age and create a wonderful patinated surface.
The poles would have been carved in the 1920s on Vancouver Island by a Nuu-chah-nulth artist, perhaps someone who was from the Mowachaht Nation. Since the poles have been together all these years, they are being sold as a pair. 16"H x 11"W
PERIOD: Early 20th Century
ORIGIN: Northwest Coast - Nuu-chah-Nulth, Native American
SIZE: 16" H x 11"W
