Rare unmarked naval hand cannon of the type used off the Barbary Coast. Type is of the kind used off the Barbary Coast during the Age of Sail. Measures approximately 9 - 5/8" from raised muzzle to cascabel. 2 stage body with octagonal breech decorated with simple dot decoration at rear and lined decoration for each section. Dropped ridge at girdle, with another lined border. Raised cannon muzzle. Metal is a smooth chocolate patina throughout with areas of oxidation. A light shines through touchhole well.
