The catalogue which accompanied that exhibition included an introduction written by Williams' long-time friend Bill Pearson, wherein he recalled: "His collection of Native American textiles was formed over a period of ten years from 1975 to 1985. Originally this included many cultures - Saltillo, Rio Grande, Chimayo, and Pueblo - but because of some poor advice Andrew separated these variant cultures from his collection. The beneficiary of this decision was the De Young Museum.
