Inuit carved seal of walrus ivory on fossilized ivory base which originally was a tool noting a symmetrical drilled hole. These carvings were usually small carvings from walrus ivory, representing local animals and Inuit themselves, going about everyday life. Seals, caribou, polar bears, birds, and other animals important to Inuit’s survival were often represented. Base 4 1/2" x 2", 2 1/2"H
