Crossed swords and patriotic shield with arrows in left talon and olive twig in right talon. Two cavalry buttons on each side of a black leather band encompassing base of hat; plus leather chin strap. Yellow intertwined cords encompassing helmet. Completed with orange horse hair plume. Inside of helmet with leather sweat band, Horstmann Bros. & Co., Philadelphia.
