John and Henry were the beginning of the famous "Hamley & Co." The first shop was started in 1883 in Ashton, SD. They moved the business to Kendrick, Idaho, in 1890. In 1893 Henry died and John moved the business to Pendleton, Oregon, in 1905. Around 1909 his two sons, Lester and John, went to work in the family business. This saddle style, special #620, Serial #5587, order 37352-24-1923, cost them $74.88. High back, 12" seat. Rideable or displayable. Another piece of Western history.
