Great Northern Railroad "Cuffs"

Great Northern Railroad "Cuffs"

"Serious Cuffs" (We call him Hector). Eleven in all requiring padlocks. We acquired in St. Paul, MN. Handed down by the Grandfather who worked for the Great Northern Railroad before 1900. Neck yoke, leg irons, wristbands, above the elbow, and leg irons; also second sets of leg irons, and handcuffs. Hand-made and very well done. We estimate 1870 to 1890. They would have been used to transport "dangerous" criminals - assumably to the territorial prison. We framed.

PERIOD: Late 19th Century

ORIGIN: Minnesota, United States

SIZE: 41" x 29"
