Ranger Purchase award, National Academy of New York, 1961; The Butler Award, The American Water Society, New York, 1964; the Syndicate Magazine gold medal, Allied Arts of America, 1967; and the silver award, The American Watercolor Society, 1970.
During his career, Pellew worked as an instructor in New England, authored three books on painting, was a member of the National Academy of Design, The Salmagundi Club, Allied Artists of America and the America Watercolor Society. These came from the archives of the Murphy Calendar Co, used for an early sporting calendar—selling as a pair.
